Our Why

We love a kid named Jay.

He has made our lives richer, fuller, kinder, funnier - he is our chosen family and we will love him for a lifetime. We also love Jay's mom. They are the kind of mom you want - driven by a fierce love, guided by a keen mind, and bolstered by some serious post punk, gen x chutzpah that you are both scared and grateful to be pulled into.

And they, like anyone who loves a trans kid - or anyone who loves autonomy, inclusivity, representation or adequate and equal rights to health care - are terrified by what is happening in our country.

We have tried to fight the good fight alongside our friends. But we knew that we could only sign so many petitions, we could raise only a modest amount of awareness, we could only do so much. We were desperate to do more. Jay lives in a part of the country where his mom can advocate for him - but in other parts of the country, the situation for transgender people is dire.

We developed LoveJay so we could do more. So we could raise funds to give to organizations that are actively working to better the lives of transgender people.

We hope you join our efforts. We hope you join us in valuing authenticity and inclusivity. Join us in celebrating individuals who have the courage to live their truth. Join us, and let's see what we can do together.

Who we're giving to.

Volunteer run. Grassroots. Nonprofit.

The Trans Formation Project is dedicated to both informing about and advocating against the anti-trans legislative crisis in the United States. Their database is the only resource we know of to effectively compile all information about bills that threaten transgender people and bills that could help transgender people, as well as compile full contact information for all representatives relevant to such bill proposals. They are a small team doing big work, and that's why we've chosen them as the first recipients of LoveJay proceeds.
